Kinetic Vision recognized as 2016 Ohio Employer of the Year

On Tuesday, October 18th, Kinetic Vision received the 2016 Ohio Employer of the Year Award from the Governor’s Council on People with Disabilities. This award recognizes employers who have significantly contributed to employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Catherine Bennett, Manager of Operations, was on hand to receive the award on Kinetic Vision’s behalf.
This award is especially meaningful to us as we were nominated by our employee, Craig Ihlendorf. Prior to Kinetic Vision, Craig was finding work through traditional developmental workshops. Now, Craig is a valued employee and integral part of our workforce. Craig says, “It was okay, but I didn’t really care about what I did. I didn’t get to work on anything that was important to me… Now I do. When I go to work I get to be around other people who like the same things I do.”
Craig was introduced to Kinetic Vision via Starfire, a visionary Cincinnati-based organization that is doing great work to improve the lives of people with developmental disabilities. Starfire connects people to relationships and uncovers a person’s talents and passions – so they can thrive in their communities alongside their neighbors. Our partnership with Starfire is successful because, like them, we want to help people be known for those gifts, passions and contributions.
We are humbled and honored to receive this award that embodies the Council’s call to action on emphasizing ability rather than disability but even more importantly, working with and empowering Craig.
